Small and Light Fingertip Haptic Device

The primary objective of this research is to augment user immersion in Virtual Reality (VR) environments by using haptic experiences specific to the hand. We need to develop a haptic device that can be used in daily life. Also improving user immersion and enable dexterous manipulation.

We would like to make such kind of device. How to keep the haptic devices slim, light, and portable? How to not occupy the fingertips, allowing for touching real objects And still provide force feedback on the touch side of the fingertips?

While meeting the above requirements, achieve the feedback on all of the fingers and enable dexterous manipulaton of objects, providing haptic rendering with more information.

This works was demonstrated at Siggraph 2023.
